01 / Set yourself up for a smooth visit

Before
your wax.

A little planning makes your treatment more comfortable. Here's how to get your skin ready.

01๐Ÿ’œ

2โ€“4 weeks before

Avoid shaving or tweezing the area to be waxed for at least 2โ€“4 weeks. Hair should be about the length of a grain of rice.

02๐Ÿ’œ

48 hours before

Avoid physical and chemical exfoliation for at least 48 hours before your appointment to help prevent skin sensitivity.

03๐Ÿ’œ

Appointment day

Arrive with clean skin, free of lotions, oils, and perfumes, to reduce the chance of irritation.

04๐Ÿ’œ

48 hours before

Minimize sun exposure for at least 48 hours before waxing, and never wax sunburned skin.

05๐Ÿ’œ

Plan your outfit

Bring or wear loose, comfortable clothing for extra comfort after your service.

06๐Ÿ’œ

Before a big event

Schedule your wax at least 48 hours ahead of special events or vacations so any temporary redness has time to settle.

02 / Keep that soft-skin feeling

After
your wax.

Freshly waxed skin deserves a gentler routine while it settles.

01๐Ÿ’œ

First 24 hours

Avoid activities that cause heavy sweating, including workouts, as well as swimming, hot showers, and intimacy.

02๐Ÿ’œ

Keep it breathable

Stick to loose, breathable clothing the day after your wax to reduce friction.

03๐Ÿ’œ

After 24 hours

Once your skin has settled, you can gently exfoliate the area. Wait longer if it still feels sensitive or irritated.

04๐Ÿ’œ

Soothe with care

If needed, apply plain aloe vera or a gentle, fragrance-free skin-soothing product. Ask your esthetician before using medicated creams.

05๐Ÿ’œ

Skip fragranced products

Avoid deodorant, body sprays, powders, lotions, and scented bath or shower products on the freshly waxed area.

03 / Your wellbeing comes first

Safety is part
of self-care.

Some medical conditions, medications, and skin concerns may make waxing unsuitable or require extra precautions. Please contact Holistic Beauty before booking if any of these apply.

When to check in before a wax

  • Diabetes or use of blood-thinning medication โ€” discuss your skin health and treatment safety with your esthetician and healthcare professional before booking.
  • Acne medication, prescription retinoids, or recent isotretinoin use โ€” some treatments significantly increase the risk of skin injury with waxing. Do not stop prescribed medication without guidance from your prescriber.
  • Current cancer treatment, including chemotherapy or radiation โ€” check with your treating clinician and the studio before scheduling.
  • Open lesions, cuts, or warts in the area to be waxed.
  • Active skin conditions, irritation, or infection in the treatment area.
  • Sunburn or unusually sensitive skin in the treatment area.
Important: Do not wax while taking isotretinoin or for six months after stopping it. Never change or stop prescribed medications solely to prepare for waxing without speaking to your prescriber. When in doubt, ask your esthetician before requesting an appointment.
